About

Hi! My name is Agata, and in the world of tatting, I am known as Frywolitka Art.

How did it all start?

It all started quite innocently. During the long summer after my high school graduation, I decided I wanted to learn something new. I had grown a bit tired of crochet, knitting, and cross-stitch embroidery. As it happened, at that time, a somewhat forgotten lace-making technique began to resurface in Poland (or perhaps even gain wider recognition), and I was completely enchanted by it.

It’s no wonder, really, because the leading promoter of this technique at the time, Mr. Jan Stawasz, created truly stunning and meticulously crafted designs. I wanted to do the same.

Since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge, and I have woven hundreds—if not thousands—of kilometers of various threads. My favorite challenge has been breathing new life into tatting and giving it a second chance, as I quickly realized that doilies and edgings do not fully represent the vast potential of this technique. Without hesitation, I moved on from the doilies I had started with and dedicated myself entirely to designing and creating jewelry. This passion even led to an artistic scholarship, where I focused on crafting a collection of tatted jewelry and accessories.

This journey gave rise to earrings, necklaces, chokers, collars, fascinators, fashion accessories, masks, and hair ornaments. Tatting is also perfect for creating themed decorations, such as Christmas snowflakes and baubles, as well as Easter eggs. In short—there are no limits to this lace beyond our own imagination.

A new Chapter

In 2025, I finally felt ready to start sharing the knowledge of shuttle lace that I have gathered over the years. That’s why on this site, you will find not only fascinating articles about the technique but also tatting patterns—both paid and free—as well as tutorials and step-by-step instructions on how to create individual elements or entire designs.

I strive to complement everything with carefully curated photography, as this aspect of art is also a passion of mine.

To stay updated, I encourage you to follow my social media (Instagram and Facebook) and sign up for my newsletter, which I hope to launch soon.

Let’s tat long and happily!
